Minibus hire for community groups
Our minibus is available for hire to all community,voluntary and charitable groups on Sheppey. This includes sports clubs, faith groups, informal community groups and families. The minibus can seat up to 13 passengers and one driver. It can accommodate up to three wheelchairs. It is a 2006 vehicle with air conditioning.
Membership
To hire the minibus, your group or family must become a member of Sheppey Wheels. Membership is £10 per annum for each group or family. You can check the terms and conditions of group membership here. Group or family members can then book the minibus for regular or occasional trips. An online booking system is available here.
Volunteers
If your group has a trained volunteer driver, we will provide them with minibus training free of charge prior to your first hire (subject to course availability). If not, we try to find another driver to assist your group. A volunteer from your own group or family must become a Sheppey Wheels registered volunteer driver before they can drive the minibus. This must happen prior to your first minibus trip, so please register with us in good time before you plan your first trip.
Prices
Annual group membership is only £10. Groups or families pay an additional charge per hire for each trip depending on the length of the trip and the mileage. The minibus hire charge is: – £1 per mile if we supply a driver – 80p per mile if you supply a driver But there is a minimum charge of £30 for a half-day trip and £60 for a day trip. For trips longer than 80 miles, we will provide a customised quote for the trip.
