New recycling scheme launched

Sheppey Healthy Living Centre has launched a new recycling scheme which will raise funds for community projects.

Members of the public can donate empty inkjets and mobile phones which will be sold to a recycling company.“Its a great way of donating to charity. This project will help us support popular projects such as the Community Learning project and Rural Youth Project” said Kevin OReilly, Chief Executive of Sheppey Matters.

Epson inkjet cartridges or laser/toner cartridges cannot be recycled under the scheme. But most other inkjets can be recycled. If people wish to donate empty inkjets or mobile phones, they can hand them to the receptionist at either Sheppey Healthy Living Centre or Sheerness Swimming Pool. For more information telephone 01795 583547.

Sheppey Matters has worked in partnership with Swale Borough Council and Swale Community Leisure Ltd to set up the scheme. The picture shows Dave West (Duty Manager at Sheppey HLC) placing the first inkjet into the recycling box.
